IN-PERSON PROFESSIONAL TRAINING • CALIFORNIA

Training for the Human Side of Every Workplace

Evidence-based, trauma-informed, non-tactical training for organizations whose employees regularly interact with the public — healthcare providers, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and public agencies.

Difficult interactions don't announce themselves ahead of time. A patient in distress, a visitor who won't calm down, a coworker in crisis — the people on the front lines of these moments are rarely security professionals. They're front-desk staff, teachers, case managers, and customer service teams who were never trained for what just walked through the door.

Sureline trains people to recognize what's happening, assess the situation, and respond with sound judgment — not panic, and not the frozen hesitation that comes from not knowing what to do. Our training draws on evidence-based practices and our own proprietary SURE Standard methodology, which centers unbiased engagement: responding to a person's behavior, not their race, religion, perceived nationality, or any other identity marker. Every course is instructor-led and delivered in person, because reading a room — tone, posture, body language, and the small shifts that change a moment — isn't something a slideshow can teach.

Common Questions

Is this security guard training?

No. This is our professional training curriculum, built for any organization whose staff interact with the public — it's separate from our BSIS-required security guard training, though many of the same skills apply.

Do you customize training for our organization?

Yes. On-site programs can be adapted to your industry, workplace environment, and specific operational needs.

Is the cultural and bias awareness training separate, or part of everything you teach?

It's currently woven into BSIS approved training. However, it is offered as a separate module for organizations needing the class for professional training.

Where does your training experience come from?

Sureline's training is shaped by a combination of formal education, real-world professional experience, ongoing research, and lived experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Our instructional perspective draws from educational backgrounds in human development, the social and behavioral sciences, business leadership, and public service, along with years of experience working with individuals, families, businesses, security professionals, and communities facing a wide range of real-world challenges.

To ensure our courses remain current and evidence-informed, we continuously study research, guidance, and best practices published by nationally recognized organizations, including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Johns Hopkins University, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), FEMA, and other respected educational, public safety, behavioral health, and professional organizations.

We believe effective training should be grounded in both research and practical application. That's why our courses combine evidence-based principles with realistic scenarios, sound professional judgment, and practical skills that participants can confidently apply in the workplace.

Where is training held?

All Sureline training is delivered in person, either at our approved training location or at your organization's location, depending on what you need.
